Our Team
Dr. Henry McKelvin is a native of Georgia, and is a 1973 graduate of the University of Georgia, College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. McKelvin moved to Virginia after graduation and practiced for three years in a small animal hospital in Richmond, Va. In 1976, he became a Hampton resident and a partner in Mercury Animal Hospital, Inc., located at 2722 W. Mercury Blvd., Hampton, Va.
In 1989, the construction of the new and present hospital was completed and the business moved down the street to its present location of 2500 W. Mercury Blvd. Dr. McKelvin has a special interest in small animal surgery, both general and orthopedics. Dr. McKelvin is the proud father of “Stolih” a Golden Retriever.

Dr. Nicole McKelvin or Dr. Nicole (as called by our staff and clients) is a native of Virginia and is the daughter of Dr. Henry McKelvin. Dr. Nicole graduated from North Carolina A&T State University in 1996, with a BS degree in Laboratory Animal Science.
In May of 2000, she received a D.V.M. degree from North Carolina State, School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Nicole has a special interest in small animal internal medicine. Dr. Nicole is the proud owner of “Coal” and “Drama,” two domestic short hair cats, and “Lia” an Italian mastiff.

Sheri joined Mercury Animal Hospital in 2011 as the lead receptionist. In 2019, she was promoted to Office Manager. She keeps the front desk running smoothly and can jump in assist in any other position in the office as needed!
